Before you read:
Before you begin reading The
Snow Whale complete the following activities:

In the story, the children build
a whale out of snow. Click on the whale
to identify and learn about the body parts of the whale and their functions
.
While you read:

While you are reading the story,
write down how Laurie explains to Leo where snow comes from and where it
goes when it melts.

Pay attention to Leo's questions
and Laurie's question about whales. Write down the questions for later,
when you will go and find the answers.
After you read:

Now it's time to answer Leo's questions
and Laurie's question about the whales. Click on the site about
gray whales and the site about blue
whales. Using the picture of each whale and the description, answer
as many of Laurie and Leo's question as you can. What do you notice
in the pictures that are similar and different? Write your answers on a
piece of paper.
